Time to Boogie: Disco Week. (#5&4)

Hello everyone,

Welcome to day 5 of Disco week and today will share two music videos. Let’s get started.

The music video I chose as number 5 is “Funkytown” by the band Lipps Inc. The song was released in 1980, but it was recorded in 1979. The lead singer of the band, Cynthia Johnson performed the song and this Disco hit reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Dance charts. This single reached number one in many countries and it was considered the last huge hit of the Disco era.

The music video I chose as number 4 is a very popular song from the Disco era and it is “YMCA” by Village People. The song was released on November 13, 1978 and this single has sold about 10 million copies around the world. The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, US Dance Club Play and in many other countries. The single is written about the non-for profit institution, YMCA, which is where are I work currently. Just thought of mentioning that, haha. “YMCA” is included in the VH1’s list of the 100 Greatest Dance Songs of the 20th Century. I love it and I’ve been singing it a lot lately, I’m addicted to it again.

Enjoy.

See you tomorrow!
