Welcome back to Music Monday, today I will share with you a fun upbeat song I discovered in a store I recently visited. It is so catchy, that I had to know what it is called, the name of the song is “The Boy Can Dance” by Afro-Dite.
Afro-Dite is a three women Swedish pop group and their group name is interpreted as Greek Goddess Aphrodite. The names of the members are Blossom Tainton-Lindquist, Gladys del Pilar and Kayo Shekoni. According to Wikipedia, here is some information about the members. Blossom has been part of the entertainment industry for a while, she sings, dances and hosts TV programs. Gladys got her breakthrough when she appeared in Abba, the true story and Kayo is a singer, model, actress and a TV host. I guess I was at that store at the right time and place because I am so happy I discovered this song. The best way I can describe this single is modern day Disco. It is a fun upbeat song and it definitely makes me want to get up and dance. Let’s not forget that these ladies have amazing vocal abilities, their voices are very strong and they hit all the notes.
Let me know what you think about this song, will you add it to your playlist on your phone or MP3 player?
Welcome to a new segment I decided to start on my blog called “Friday Funday”. This will not be a weekly segment like “Music Monday”, so expect “Friday Funday” posts every other week. I want to start this new segment because I want to write fun posts about anything. Not to worry though, this will still be a music blog with a lot of music posts. Music is my true passion and I will always write about music!
Today I want to do the I ♥ Fall tag, this is very popular on Youtube and it is done by many Youtubers. I thought bloggers should join the fun too, this is not only for Youtubers. I love Fall and thought this will be a fun post to write, I tag everyone here who loves Fall too, to do this tag.
1. Favorite Fall lip product?
For the Fall season I always switch to more subtle and darker lip colors, it seems like it’s more appropriate than a really bright hot pink lip stick. I have been using two lip products a lot lately and there the Revlon lipstick (460-Pearl Blushing) and the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip stain (005-Crush).
I am a huge lover of Revlon products, especially their lip products because the formula is great. The first lip product, the lipstick is a product I have been using a lot since the start of my University journey back in 2008. This is such a nice and subtle blush color and it’s perfect to wear anywhere, it is also wearable in a work setting. I have repurchased this product countless of times because it is one of my favorite lipsticks. The next lip product aka the lip stain is a bolder color, so I don’t recommend wearing this at work. However, this is the perfect dark plum color for the Fall. Whenever I feel like wearing something more edgy, this is the lip color I will pick.
2. Favorite Fall Nail Polish?
I am in love with the Rimmel London nail polishes, especially the Rimmel London lasting finishing pro, in color 430 black satin. For the Fall season I like to wear darker nail polishes and this one is great because it doesn’t chip easily and it more long lasting.
3. Favorite Starbucks Fall Drink?
I actually don’t buy Fall drinks from Starbucks, I usually get their winter and summer drinks. However, one Fall drink that I like to buy from Second Cup or Tim Hortons is the apple cider. For me, this is the perfect Fall drink and I love the sweetness and the taste of yummy apples.
4. Favorite Fall Candle?
I’ve been loving the Mason jars Bath and Works has lately and I recently bought the “Farmstand Apple” scent. It makes my room smell like an apple patch, such a delicious and sweet scent. If you are looking for a Fall candle, Bath and Body Works is the place to go.
5. Favorite Fall Scarf or accessory
I will share two Fall favorite fashion pieces and one accessory! The first one is a scarf that I bought four years ago, I take care of my stuff, so it actually looks brand new. I love this scarf because it is not too thick and neither too warm, just right for that warm/cool Fall weather. For chilly day, I have another scarf that was recently bought from Sears, it was actually a gift from my mom. This scarf has an elastic, so when I put it on it stays put and keeps my neck and upper chest area warm. The next Fall accessory that I love is chunky jewelry, especially big rings. The picture of my ring below is just one of the many other ones I have, I like to make a fashion statement with bold jewelry during the colder seasons.
6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze?
From these three, the one I will pick is a haunted house because I’ve never been to one before. Well I have been to a kids one with my little cousins, but I want to experience a scary haunted house.
7. Favorite Halloween movie?
My all time favorite Halloween movie is Beetlejuice, I watch it every year either on Halloween day or close to Halloween. I also enjoy to watch the Addams Family, this is a childhood favorite movie too.
8. Favorite candy to eat on Halloween?
I love chocolate, so I like to eat Kit Kats and lollipops. Halloween is my excuse to eat tons of candy, that’s the way I celebrate Halloween 🙂
9. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?!
I haven’t planned an actual outing event with my friends, but I will be wearing a masquerade mask at work. I work at a daycare for the YMCA, so it’s a must to wear some sort of Halloween attire. I also made my nails a Halloween theme, check out the picture below to see what they look like. It was my first time doing nail art and for a first timer, I am happy with how it turned out.
10. What is your Favorite thing about Fall?
Fall is one of my favorite seasons because I love how the leaves change color, it is beautiful and I always make sure to capture its beauty through photography. I love how cozy it feels and I can wear big chunky sweaters, with scarves and a nice pair of boots. Fall fashion is my favorite and I love the holidays during Fall, such as Halloween and Thanksgiving. This time of the year always feels so festive and let’s not forget the apple cider, my favorite Fall drink.
Let me know what’s your favorite thing about Fall and feel free to do this tag too 🙂
Welcome back to another Music Monday, today I will share a song that I’ve been obsessed with for the last couple of days. The song is called “I wish” by Cher Lloyd featuring TI, I have been replaying this song everyday.
The song was released on September 2, 2013 which is the main single from her upcoming album. In the video you see TI entering a bar with a bunch of girls, Cher plays the role of a girl that likes him and sings how she needs to look certain way to have him. Basically feeling self-conscious about yourself and wanting to look like the other girl because in that way she can get the guy she wants.
The is very catchy song and it makes me smile because of the beat and the music video. Cher and TI were great together and I am very eager to hear her whole album, Cher has stated she wants a more mature sound. So far I like what I am hearing!
As a music blogger I always keep up with what’s happening in the world of music. One of the most recent news is the Sinead O’Conner vs Miley Cyrus feud. There is no doubt that Miley’s new image and recent performances has stirred up major controversy, which made some celebrities speak out about the star. To name a few are Elton John, Shenae Grimes, P!nk, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga and many more. Among these stars, not everyone says something bad about Miley’s behavior. However, if you are curious to know what they said, here is the scoop.
Now going back to the feud issue, here is a brief summary of what exactly happened! Sinead wrote a very public letter to Miley warning her not to become a toy of the music industry. Meaning stripping down and being treated as a sex object. On one hand, I do understand Sinead’s point of view, however I believe Miley is very conscious of her actions. She knows exactly what she is doing and she knows this will attract people’s attention. Miley has stated that she wants her new album to be very successful and to be considered legendary in later years. I do think Sinead should have been more discreet about the way she decided to reach out to Miley, this should have been private instead of for the public to see. I also think that Miley should not have made mental illness remark to Sinead, because mental illness is a serious matter and not something to be joked about. Bottom line, both sides are wrong in this situation.
There are a lot of opinions about Miley’s behavior and whether it is right or wrong. My opinion is that she is being racy with her performances, but she is doing it merely for the attention aspect. She wants to be a memorable artist, so she wants to WOW the public by what she does. Is what she is does necessarily a good choice, I would say no to that. However, keep in mind she is young and in a way she is trying to find herself. I truly believe this is her way to tell the public that she is grown up, because she desperately wants to escape the Hannah Montana image. I personally do not approve of how she acts and I think in later years she is going to look back on these years and say “What the heck was I thinking?” Let’s hope the star doesn’t take it too far, to a point where she might regret it. Miley Cyrus is talented and there is no need for her to act in a provocative manner, all she needs is her talent to impress people.
Let me know what you think about the whole Miley issue, I’m always interested in reading your opinions. Please remember to be respectful towards each other and each other’s opinions in the comments box below.
Welcome to Music Monday and Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian followers! This year I am thankful for good health, my family and friends, my job and this blog. I started this blog with the purpose of writing about something I adore, music! I want to thank my followers most of all, when I see that all of you enjoy my posts, it motivates me to write even more.
The music video I will share with you is “Whole Wide World” by Mindy Gledhill. Mindy Gledhill is an American indie folk singer who also writes her own songs. Gledhill was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Dance/Electronica Album and she made her debut in 2004 with her album “The Sum of All Grace”. Mindy left her initial labe, Lumen Recordsl because she is interested in making indie music. Her newest album “Pocketful of Poetry” was released on September 11, 2013. Her music and sound is very unique and whenever I listen to her music I always feel content. Her vocal abilities are great, she can sing high notes, but she is also a great mellow singer.
Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comments box below 🙂
Welcome back to Music Monday, if you have been keeping up with my blog for a while, then you would know I love to listen to foreign music. As long as I enjoy the music, it doesn’t matter to me ifI cannot understand a word. I love listening to K-pop and J-pop, so today I will share with you a music video by Girls Generation (SNSD) called “Galaxy Supernova”.
Girls Generation is a South Korean group, that made its debut in 2007 and there are nine members in the group. Their single “Gee” brought them to spotlight and according Forbes magazine, SNSD are called the most powerful entertainers in South Korea. Girls Generation slowly started to make their way into the Japanese market and then in the United States. The Korean sensation performed on shows such as “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Live with Regis and Kelly”. The song I am sharing with you today is actually sang in Japanese, many Korean musicians record Japanese singles when they enter the Japanese market. This song is very catchy and I guarantee that you will be replaying it, regardless of whether you listen to this kind of music or not. The music video is your typical Japanese dance shot + closeup shots of the members. The official MV is not posted on the company’s channel, but I still managed to find it on another channel.
Enjoy and let me know what you think 🙂 in the future I will continue to share foreign music videos with you all. Music has a universal language and respect music from every country!
Welcome to Music Monday, today I will be sharing you a music video by Emeli Sande called “Next To Me”.
I discovered Emeli Sande’s music last Fall and I’m so glad I did because her music is amazing. She is a true musician who writes her own songs, has great vocal abilities and does not rely on special audio effects. Her song “Next To Me” was released on February 10, 2012 and it landed the number one spot on the Irish Singles Chart and Scottish Singles Chart. This song also reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart.
