Music Monday! Week 59.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to Music Monday! Today I will share a song by an indie group, there are so many amazing indie artists that deserve recognition. Thankfully, I’m here to share with you their talent and I hope you guys enjoy the music too. The song I’ll be sharing is “Pulse of the Earth” by Hungry Lucy, which was released in 2010. I discovered the song from a YouTube video by a Japanese beauty guru, Sasaki Asahi. The melody and angelic voice of the artist captivated me and I had to find more of her music. Before I share the video, I want to introduce the artist to you all.

Hungry Lucy is a darkwave, trip-hop duo (meaning, music with a goth vibe) and they began their career in 1998. The group consists of Christa Belle and Warren Harrison and despite being part of the music industry for a long time, I refer to them as an indie group because of their lack of mainstream recognition. Of course, you do not need to become a mainstream musician in order to be considered amazing, but I feel like they deserve this kind of recognition.

Let me know what you think about the song and if it is to your liking. Enjoy 🙂

See you soon!

Honoring the King of Pop!

Michael Jackson, 1958-2009

On this day five years ago, the media exploded with headlines that the King of Pop had passed away! I initially thought that this was some sort of a sick rumor because let’s face it, the media can come up some outrageous made up stories. However, when the news were confirmed, I felt very sad. I watched the news all day and listened to MJ music, he was one my musical inspirations and he will always continue to be a big inspiration. He is one of a kind with his God given talent to dance, sing, write and produce music. I’ve wondered if there will ever be another musician like MJ and I always say “no” to myself.

Michael Jackson left this world way too soon, leaving behind his loved ones and his fans! In honor of his memory, I want to share  two of my all time favorite MJ live performances, they are amazing.

I must add that seeing two of my favorite musicians that idolize is pretty epic!!!

See you soon and stay tuned for my Friday Funday post!

Music Monday! Week 58.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to Music Monday! Did everyone have a good weekend? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 mine was good. I’ll be writing an update post soon and I’ll share with you what I’ve been up to recently, so stay tuned for that.

Anyway, let’s get back to Music Monday, whenever I post the chosen music video every week I always brainstorm what music video to share with you next. I had a bunch of ideas throughout the week, but on Saturday I decided to browse for some upbeat 90s music on YouTube. While I was searching a song popped up into my head and I thought it would be a great way start off the week. You are probably saying, “Ok, enough chit-chat, tell us already.”, well my friends I will be sharing “All Around The World (la la la la la la la la)” by ATC.

ATC (A Touch of Class) is a German pop band that consists of four members, Joseph Murray, Livio Salvi, Sarah Eagglestone and Tracy Elizabeth Packham. Their breakthrough single is “All Around The World” which is a song cover of the Russian song “Pesenka” by the Russian band Ruki Vvreh. The song became an instant international hit and it debuted number for six consecutive weeks. Wow! Unfortunately, the band is no longer together, but on the bright side they left behind their wonderful music.

International Wonderland! BoA – Masayume Chasing (Chasing A True Dream)

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share with you a new music video that is released today by my favorite Korean pop star, BoA. I would’ve waited until Music Monday to share the song with you all, but I couldn’t wait until then because the song is too awesome to not share it right away. The song I’m talking about is “Masayume Chasing” AKA “Chasing A True Dream”. What a lovely song title, I really like it and the song makes me feel happy. It is one of those  songs that makes you smile no matter what mood you are in!

Anime fans also rejoiced because “Masayume Chasing” is 15th opening theme of the popular Japanese anime, FairyTail. “Masayume Chasing” seems like the perfect upbeat summer song, showing BoA and friends dancing and having fun. For those of you who want to read the English lyrics, read below:

As I chase my dream, I got lost deep in the forest of my heart.
Rather than mirrors, it’s the clear spring, that reflected a warped smile.

These tears that I have shed (Don’t Cry), gold or silver they won’t be.
Those commonly seen tears (Fall From My Eyes), goddess won’t even notice them.

True Dream Chasing, Chasing,
Surpassing the greatest I’ve ever been even more.
The instant Chasing Chasing,
That’s who I’ll become, a person I’ve described, the flame that burns in one’s heart!

Na na na na na na na Oh
Na na na na na Hey Hey
Na na na na na na na Oh
The Hero who run past through that!

Na na na na na na na Oh
Na na na na na Hey Hey
Na na na na (Hey) na na na (Oh)
The flame that burns in one’s heart (My Life… Yeah)

Before I end this post, I want to let everyone know that I have decided to add a fourth segment to my blog called “International Wonderland”. Since I love listening to foreign music, I thought it would be appropriate and about time to add this segment. I hope  other international music lovers will enjoy this segment, music is music no matter if you can’t understand what the singer is singing about. Music has a universal language!

This lovely painting was done by Michael Tompsett, all credit goes to him. His pictures was only used as a banner for my new segment 🙂

Enjoy the song and let me know what you think about it 🙂

See you soon!

Music Monday! Week 57.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to Music Monday! This weekend I went to watch “The Fault In Our Stars” and it was amazing, but also very sad. I actually did cry in the theater, the last time I cried that much was when I watched Titanic. Nevertheless, this is a movie that everyone should go see, it has great life lessons and it is another great love story. As usual, I always pay attention to the music when I watch a movie and I thought the soundtrack was phenomenal. The instrumental and lyrical music matches the mood of the scenes so well, especially during the emotionally heartbreaking scenes.

The song I’ll be sharing from the TFIOS soundtrack is “All Of The Stars” by Ed Sheeran, the song is so soothing and beautiful. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did and let me know in the comments below if you’ve seen the movie. If you did, let me know what you thought of it 🙂

1. Britney Spears – Hit Me Baby One More Time.

This is one of Britney’s biggest hits and certainly one of my all time favorite songs by her, it is a classic. I discovered her music video one day when I was bored at home trying to find something to watch on TV, as I was flipping through the channels I came across her video. The song was addictive and when it ended I wanted to listen to it again, but I didn’t know her name or the songs name. Soon the tabloids began talking about her and I found out her name, my mom bought me the audio cassette (remember those?) and I listened to the album everyday. Let’s just say that I was obsessed, I even got a Britney doll from my cousin and I dressed up like Britney’s school outfit. I have the picture of me dressed up like that, but I’m too embarrassed to post it.

This was her debut song from her album “…Baby One More Time”, the song was released in 1998 and it is one of the best selling singles of all time.

2. Backstreet Boys – I Want It That Way.

This was the first Backstreet Boys song I listened to as a kid and thanks to them I began watching MTV and becoming infatuated with the world of music. The single was released in 1999 and it won numerous awards and it received three Grammy nominations. For me this is BSB’s biggest hit, don’t you agree? 🙂

3. Spice Girls – Spice Up Your Life.

If you say that you haven’t listened to the Spice Girls as a kid, you are lying! Everyone has and don’t deny it, this mega successful British pop band got everyone talking. I like many of their songs, but this one is my favorite because of its funky rhythm. The single was released in 1997 and it debuted on the number one on the UK charts for one week!

4. Christina Aguilera – Genie In The Bottle.

Even though I was Britney fan, I still enjoyed Christina’s music and let’s face it, she has an amazing voice. The beat, the music video and Christina’s vocals are perfect, I also like the choreography. The single was released in 1999, it debuted number one for five consecutive week (very impressive). For me, this is one of Christina’s most memorable songs.

5. N Sync – It’s Tearing Me Apart.

Of course I’m going to include N Sync on this list, after all they are pretty amazing. This song makes me want to get up and dance, I love its upbeat rhythm, lyrics and Justin Timberlake 😉 The single was released in 1998!

I hope you all liked this post 🙂

Music Monday! Week 56.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to Music Monday! Is everyone having a great Monday so far? I hope the answer to this question is “yes” and I’m here to make your day even better with a good tune. The song I chose for this week is “Collide” by Howie Day.

Howie Day began his career in the late 1990s, with his own efforts he financed his first album called “Australia” released in 2000. In 2002, Howie signed a contract with Epic Records, he released his first album again and afterwards he released another album called “Stop All The World Now”. He is best know for his two hits, “She Says” and “Collide” and “Collide” sold 1.5 million downloads. I can see why this song became a music hit in the 2000s, it is lovely and soothing. I like to listen to this kind of music, when I need a break from EDM.

Enjoy and tell me in the comments box which is your favorite 2000s song 🙂
