Matsuri Toronto Japanese Summer Festival!

Hello everyone,

As most if you know by now, I am a huge Japan enthusiast. I watch Japanese dramas, listen to Japanese music, eat Japanese food and recently started taking Japanese classes. My first class was great and I’m looking forward to learn more and be able to speak it fluently.

Ok I got off track here for second, today I want to talk to you about my very first Japanese festival. I found out about it from BlogTO, on this blog you can find many posts about fun things to do in the city. On Saturday, I was casually scrolling down my homefeed on Facebook when I stumbled across their post. This is the second year of the Matsuri festival and I immediately jumped to the chance to see it.

They had live performances, fashion shows, great food and other fun activities. I even got the chance to wear a summer yukata (a summer kimono) and get my picture taken. Awesome, isn’t it? There was also a traditional Japanese Geisha and people were lining up to take pictures with her. Of course, I did the exact same thing as everyone else. There were many food vendors, Henna artists and graffiti artists. It really hot that day, but I still enjoyed the festival!

As most of you know, I created a YouTube channel last week. I took some video footage from the festival and I put together my first vlog. I was nervous because I am new to the vlogging world, so I didn’t get as much footage as I wanted. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the my first vlog!

P.S. The graphics and effects for my intro video were created by me with Sony Vegas Pro 9.0. Also here are some photos from the festival.

Enjoy sunshines!

Music Monday! (Troye Sivan – Happy Little Pill)

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to Music Monday! One of my specialties as a music blogger is to discover musicians that people have never heard of before. I frequently hear the following questions from my friends, “How do you manage to always find new artists”? It’s called research, if you are a music fanatic like me, then I’m sure you have music on your mind 24/7. Music is like oxygen for me and I always crave to listen to new music, whether it is American or international.

Recently, I came across a new song that I am addicted to and I can’t wait to share with you. Ok, ok I’ll stop stalling, the song I am sharing with you all today is “My Happy Little Pill” by Troye Sivan. Troy is a famous YouTuber who recently signed a record deal with EMI Australia, his EP, TRXYE  will be released on August 15, 2014 that will be led by its first single “Happy Little Pill”. The full version of the song was released on July 25, 2014 on Troye’s YouTube channel. Following the song’s release, many fans began posting song covers of “Happy Little Pill”. Troye is not new to the entertainment world, at a young age he began acting and making appearances

On his Tumblr, Troye shared that this song was written for a friend who is going through a tough time. Troye did not specify which friend and I think that’s for the best, this person’s personal struggles don’t need to be exposed to the public.

I don’t think words are enough to explain how much I love this song, no wait, I ADORE this song. First of all, his vocals sound soothing and his singing seems so effortless! I have been replaying this song for a few days, I’m definitely addicted.

Let me know what you think about the song in the comments box below.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!

The Launch Of My YouTube Channel!

Hello sunshines,

It’s been ten years since I joined YouTube in 2005 to make anime music videos, however I decided to quit YouTube at the end of 2006. At the time I had to worry about doing well in school, so I can get accepted into university.

After so many years, I am excited to announce that I am officially back to the YouTube community. It feels so nostalgic and for anyone who is wondering, no I am not going to be making anime music videos. Unfortunately, this phase in my life is officially over, but I am thankful for it because I have my editing video skills and knowledge. So you might be asking me right now, “What are you planning to post on YouTube?” As for now, I will stick to short video montages of special events and concerts I attend and more photography collages. I am not sure when I’ll start posting videos of myself chatting with you guys, but I do know it will happen in the future. Posting a video of yourself for everyone to see on the Internet is quite intimidating and I am not ready for this step, yet.

A week ago I mentioned to you guys that I am in midst of creating a video collage of my photography, it is officially done and posted on YouTube. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Here is a link to my YouTube channel:(

Thank you for stopping by and see you soon 🙂

Friday Funday! Sunkissed Summer Tag.

Hello everyone,

Aren’t you glad it is finally Friday? I sure am and I am also glad because it is time for Friday Fundayyyyyyyyyy, was that too much? I was watching a few YouTube videos last week and I came across one made my Missglamorazzi (one of my favorite beauty gurus) and she did the Sunkissed Summer Tag video. It looked like a fun tag video to make, so I decided to write a post and answer the questions. Overall I love summer, the only thing I hate about it is the heat and the humidity. YUCK!

Anyway, I tag everyone one here to do this tag too (if you want to, of course)! Enjoy sunshines 🙂

1. What is your go-to product for a sun kissed summer glow? (bronzer, self tanner, etc.)

Hm, the first word that comes to my mind is blush. I have very pale skin, so if add a bit of color to my cheeks, it makes me look more refreshed. I like blushes with a little bit of a sparkle, it would look nice on a sunny day.

2. What book would you recommend for a summer read?

I have a ton of books to read this summer, but a current one that I’m reading is “Pandemonium” by Lauren Oliver. This is the second book from the Delirium dystopian trilogy, which is a about a society where love is considered a disease. Every eighteen year old needs to undergo a surgery that will get rid of the love feelings, bizarre indeed. The first books was a rollecoaster ride, the second book picks up right after a huge event and it becomes even more exciting than the first book. If you like mystery, romance and a bit of action, then this book is for you.

3. What’s your signature summer scent this year?

I don’t really have one, but there is a body spray that I’ve been using a lot and it is the Bodycology, Exotic Cherry Blossom scent. It is a nice flowery scent that is perfect for the summer time.

4. The sun is shining and it’s time to get outside! What’s your favorite thing to do?

I like to do many things and some of them are biking, swimming, going to the amusement park, going out with friends and going out for walks to the park.
5. You’re on the boardwalk and your stomach is grumbling. What’s your go-to summer beach food?

Well I eat healthy now, so I would want to go for something like watermelon, but if wanted something a bit more greasy I would buy a hot dog or a burger.

6. Sunscreen is always important, but it’s a MUST in summer! What’s your favorite? (Face, body, or both)

I don’t really use sunscreen on my face when I have to wear makeup because my Nivea Day Moisturizer has SPF15 in it, but for my body I use Coppertone with SPF60. Yes, SPF60, as I mentioned earlier I have very fair skin so I can burn easily.

7. After a day in the summer sun and heat, what do you do to cool off?

I like to take a cool shower, then have a cold glass of water and finally some watermelon fresh out of the refrigerator. I love eating my watermelon really cold, well not ice cold, but you get the idea.

8. How do you wear your hair in the summer? (down, ponytail, ombre, dip dye, etc.)

I usually wear it up in a ponytail or a bun, but if it’s not too hot outside then I’ll wear it down.

9. Must-have nail polish for summer 2014?

I don’t really have one, but I am all about NEON COLORSSSSS. Lol, why am I so hyper today? I just love a pop of color on my nails or anything glittery.

10. Sometimes it just feels good to chill out and watch Netflix. What shows/movies do you recommend for summer?

I am probably not the best person to ask this question because I don’t watch a lot of TV but I have been keeping up with the sitcom “The Middle”. I loveeeeee sitcoms, I’ve also been re-watching “Everybody Loves Raymond” on YouTube (yes, someone uploaded the episodes, yay)! I’ve also been catching up on some Japanese dramas because you guys know that I love watching those 🙂

11. Do you wear liquid foundation, BB cream, or tinted moisturizer in the summer?

I wear liquid foundation because I get the best coverage when I am breaking out, but on days when I don’t have too many blemishes, I wear only a concealer.

12. It’s super bright outside! Do you reach for sunglasses or a hat?

Both! I get a headache from the sun if I’m not wearing a hat and I need sunglasses because I have sensitive eyes.

13. What is your summer jam this year?

Omg soooo manyyyy, but a few are: Arianna Grade ft. Iggy Azalea- Problem, Arianna Grande ft. ZEDD – Break Free, BoA – Masayume Chasing, SKY-HI – Trickster and a ton more.

14. Do you have a summer bucket list? If so, share some things on the list.

I sure do, I want to go to see Circus Du Soleil, start dance classes, go to Japanese class (btw, my first class is today) and start going to guitar classes because I bought a guitar last week 😀

15. Bikini, tankini, or one piece? Show us your fave bathing suit this year!

I love bikini, but lately I’ve been loving bikini shorts that I found in Walmart for a very reasonable price.

16. Summer means heat… and sweat! What’s your favorite sweat proof product this year? (Skincare, makeup, anything!)

I love the Revlon Colorstay Foundation, it is amazing and it does not look like it’s melting off of my face during hot summer days.

17. Summer wouldn’t be complete without a scoop (or two) of ice cream! If you could create your own ice cream flavor, what would it be?

Mine won’t be so original, but I think I’ll choose coconut and chocolate. Yummm 🙂

I hope you found this post entertaining, let me know if there are any other tag posts you want me to do. I also want to do my very first Q&A post, so if you guys have questions for me, ask away in the comments box below 🙂

Thanks for stopping and have a rockin’ Friday!

International Wonderland! Do As Infinity – Shinjitsu no Uta.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to my International Wonderland, it’s been a few days since J-pop week ended, but I am back with our favorite foreign music segment. There were a lot of songs I wanted to share last week, but it was impossible to fit all artists in one week.

The music video I will be sharing today is “Shinjitsu no Uta” by Do As Infinity.

Song cover for “Shinjitsu no Uta”.

I wouldn’t have discovered this band if it wasn’t for one of my favorite animes that I watched when was a teenager, which is “InuYasha”. I decided to share this particular song today because of its Japanese inspired sound. I find it very unique and different from your typical J-pop songs, plus the instrumental accompaniments are stunning. “Shinjitsu no Uta” was used as the fifth ending theme for the anime, “Inuyasha”, the song also debuted at number five on the Oricon charts. The vocalist of the band, Tomiko Van, always sings her songs with emotion and you can really tell that she puts her heart and soul into the creation of a song. I highly respect musicians like her who sincerely love their job and performing is their life. There are so many songs by this band that I love, but I will share them in future International Wonderland posts.

Enjoy and please let me know if you liked the song 🙂 See you on Friday for a new Friday Funday post!

“the crimson-stained sun
has illuminated everything; now and the past
is what i have imagined within this twilight
more than my own hands can accomplish?

please teach me how to live
a little more vulnerably than i do now
won’t you taint me just a little?
that way, even if i get hurt
and lose everything around me
this song of truth will flow through my heart

this dispute will probably go on
about that which is most precious
i’ve become a rebel, i’ve overlooked things
even the gentle smiles of strangers

if eternity knows what manner of darkness
and when pain will vanish,
then that way, you shall taint me
i looked always to yesterday, to the castles in the sky
when will i be able to follow them?
this song of truth shall be my guide

if eternity knows what manner of darkness
and when pain will vanish,
this song of truth will flow through my heart

now, please, taint me just a little
please, just taint me, only a little

this song of truth shall be my guide”

See you on Friday for a Friday Funday post!

Music Monday! (Arianna Grande ft. ZEDD – Break Free)

Hello everyone,

Music Monday is back again and I have a brand new song to share that I’ve been loving. The song that I chose is “Break Free” by Arianna Grande ft. ZEDD, the song is absolutely awesome. I’ve been loving techno and trance since I was nine years old, I love upbeat music that makes you want to dance. This song certainly makes me want to get up and dance and as I expected ZEDD did a great job creating this song. Arianna’s vocals are amazing and so powerful, the chorus is catchy as well, actually the entire song is catchy.

Enjoy and let me know if you liked the song 🙂

See you soon!

The World of J-pop: J-pop Week (#1)

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to J-pop week, today is the last day and I’ve really enjoyed posting these J-pop songs all week. If you are sad that J-pop week over, don’t be, we still have my “International Wonderland” segment! This is a segment where I post international music videos and there will be more J-pop songs to be shared on my blog. Now it is time to reveal the number one J-pop music video of the week!

The music video that I chose as number 1 is “First Love” by Utada Hikaru. Utada Hikaru is a Japanese American singer who was born in Manhattan, both of her parents are in the music industry. Eventually, Utada started recording songs with her mother and in 1996 she moved to Japan to become a singer. She is quickly became very popular in the Japanese music industry, as well as the international market with her debut album “First Love”. As a Japanese soloist, Utada has had remarkable accomplishments i.e. having twelve number one singles on the Oricon charts and selling more than 52 million records worldwide. Not only that, but she also has three of her albums on the list of the Top Ten Selling Albums in Japan and according to Japan Timesshe is the most influential Japanese musician of the decade.

In the West, Utada Hikaru gained popularity for her work for the video game franchise, Kingdom of Hearts. A few of her most well-known English songs are “Sanctuary”, “Flavor of Life” and “Prisoner of Love”. “First Love” was released on April 28, 1999, which debuted as number two on the Oricon charts. This song is simply beautiful, romantic and touching, Utada’s vocals are expressive and heartfelt. The pace of the song fits the intensity and emotions of the song very well, the harmony and melody is pleasing to the ear.

Enjoy the song and let me know if you liked it.

Once in a while
You are in my mind
I think about the days that we had
And i dream that these would all come back to me
If only you knew every moment in time
Nothing goes on in my heart
Just like your memories
How I want here to be with you
Once more

You will always gonna be the one
And you should know
How I wish I could have never let you go
Come into my life again
Oh, don’t say no
You will always gonna be the one in my life
So true, I believe i can never find
Somebody like you
my first love

Once in awhile
Your are in my dreams
I can feel the warmth of your embrace
And I pray that it will all come back to me
If only you knew every moment in time
Nothing goes on in my heart
Just like your memories
And how I want here to be with you
Once more
yah yah yah

You will always be inside my heart
And you should know
How I wish I could have never let you go
Come into my life again
Please don’t say no
Now and forever you are still the one
In my heart
So true, I believe I could never find
Somebody like you
My first love
oh oh

You will always gonna be the one
And you should know
How I wish I could have never let you go
Come into my life again
Oh, don’t say no
You will always gonna be the one
So true, I believe I could never find
Now and forever

Ladies and gentlemen, this concludes J-pop week and thank you so much for stopping by all week to watch and listen to the music videos.
