The World of J-pop: J-pop Week (#9)

Hello everyone,

Welcome back to J-pop week, did everyone enjoy yesterday’s post? By the looks of it some of you did and I am thrilled about that. Luckily, we have a lot more songs coming up this week, so I hope you are stocked about that.

The music video I chose as number 9 is “Invoke” by T.M. Revolution. Takanori Nishikawa is an actor and a singer who is best known as T.M. Revolution, this is his stage name and it means “Takanori Makes Revolution”. Like many Japanese artists, Takanori contributes greatly to the anime and video game industry. He is well known for his opening theme songs for the popular animes, The Gundam Seed Series and Rurouni Kenshin. His song “Invoke” has sold 247,160 copies and debuted at number 2 on the Oricon charts. The song begins with a wonderful piano instrumental and then it quickly picks up the pace. Considering that this is an upbeat song, the piano arrangement fits well with the song. When the tempo becomes more upbeat, it gives you total adrenaline rush (well at least for me), it makes me think of an action scene in a movie. The vocal melody caught my attention instantly, Takanori’s vocals are rich and he sings the song with a lot of emotion. He does a great job at hitting the high notes, as for the song I like the lack of digital effects when it comes to his vocals.

Enjoy and let me know if you liked the song 🙂

ENGLISH LYRICS TRANSLATION

Every time we hurry past each other, we hit and tear ourselves on impact
and we feel the pain of each other’s wings

We were embraced in unclean, impure arms
because in our loneliness we didn’t know any better

The moment we connect, eternity will awaken – I long for it

Exposed in a flickering instant that flew by too fast
I can’t reach anything alone
These mere wishes and fading words
can’t get get us anywhere by themselves

Though I fixed my eyes right on them, I’ve still lost sight of the stars
But their light remains, and no one can steal it

The light of our existence is confirmed by our lips
It’s dazzling from the emotions that are bottled up inside us

Is it love that lies ahead, or will everything break apart? It bewilders me…

Intertwined in this heat, wanting to speak the truth
Who do I protect them from?
This feeling you wanted so badly once,
If it’s there…

Exposed in a flickering instant that flew by too fast
I can’t reach anything alone
These mere wishes and fading words…

Intertwined in this heat, wanting to speak the truth
Who do I protect them from?
This feeling I wanted so badly once…

It lies in you

See you tomorrow and thanks for stopping by blog.

  1. This song is cool but I’m not a major fan of Takanori’s pop music, I like his rock stuff. I love his work with Abbingdon Boys School which I first discovered through Darker than Black.
