One Ok Rock Ambitions Tour 2017

Note: This is a super late post reviewing the One Ok Rock concert I attended on January 17th, my blogging schedule is lacking. I will work on creating a concrete schedule for posting blog posts on a regular basis, sorry about that everyone. However, I hope you still enjoy this post.

Where do I even begin when I talk about One Ok Rock, they are simply one of kind and on the rise of stardom. I discovered One Ok Rock back in 2014 while watching the live action of Rurouni Kenshin Movie. The first song I heard by them was “Mighty Long Fall”, I thought it was best song I’ve heard in a long time.

I attended their tour in 2015 and when I found out they were coming to Toronto again this year, I knew I had to go. The concert was held at Rebel Club in Toronto, there were many people coming to see them perform along with new and old fans. The venue is 45,000 square feet, there are two floors, however, the top floor seemed more spacious. The venue’s location is not the best, it was slightly hard to find. If the concert is held at the same venue when they come to Toronto again, plan ahead and leave earlier. The lineups moved fairly quickly thanks to the well trained staff.

The concert began with an opening act from the band, Cruisers, I have never heard of them before that night. Even though they were not well known, many people enjoyed their music and I did too.

I cannot recall exactly how many songs they performed, but I believe it was around 5-7. Cruisers exited the stage around 8pm and we were waiting approximately 35 minutes for the crew to set up their stage, and do sound check. The anticipation could be felt all throughout the venue, all of us could not wait to see our favorite band on stage. Eventually, they came out on stage opening with their song the show with, “Taking Off”. The song list for the concert is as follows:

  1. Ambitions (Introduction)
  2. Taking Off
  3. Take Me To The Top
  4. Deeper, Deeper
  5. Clock Strikes
  6. Decision
  7. Hard To Love
  8. Bedroom Warfare
  9. The Beginning
  10. I Was King
  11. Take What You Want
  12. We Are
  13. Mighty Long Fall

Taka (vocalist), Toru (guitarist), Ryota (bassist) and Tomoya (drummer) had so much energy, they knew how to make the audience excited to rock out to their music. I observed each member of the group and they performed with a passion, it was wonderful to see how much they love what they do for a living. One of the things that always impresses me about Taka is his vocal range and stamina. He sounded stable all throughout his songs, running and jumping around on stage. My favorite songs from the concert were “We Are”, “Taking Off”, “The Beginning” and “Mighty Long Fall”. However, I was strongly anticipating to hear “We Are”, I love the passion in Taka’s voice when he sing the lyrics talking about staying true to who you are and never giving up.

After seeing One Ok Rock performing twice, once in 2015 and again this year I can tell they seemed more comfortable and even more energetic to be on stage. They are growing their fanbase, and they are becoming even more prominent in the music world. I love their music because the melody, the lyrics and the way Taka sings touches my soul. It makes me feel encouraged, energetic and happy. Taka sings 100% live and in this day and age of auto-tune, it seems rare to see that. The price of the tickets were reasonable, and not overly expensive. However, that may not last for too long because they are become more and more popular.

They are making their U.S. debut and have already signed a contract with Fueled Ramen Records. I hope one day I get to see them perform on the Grammys 🙂

With that being said, I will conclude this concert review with sharing some live performances and music videos from One Ok Rock.

Thank you for reading and see you soon!

Webster Falls & One Republic Photography!

Hi everyone,

How are you today? I hope the answer to this question is ‘yes’, if the answer is ‘no’, maybe this post will cheer you up!

This weekend was very eventful for me because I finally got the chance to visit the famous Webster Falls. I had an incredible time and I’m grateful for the sunshine we had yesterday. I will be sharing a few pictures from my special outdoors outing. It is definitely healthy to go out and get in touch with nature.

I also had the opportunity of seeing One Republic live on Friday! I had an incredible time, and I’ll be sharing a few pictures from the concert. I didn’t get the chance to take too many photos with my professional camera because the batteries died. That was actually good thing because I enjoyed the show more, rather than holding up my camera the entire time.

Anyway enough chit chat, it is time to share the photos and I hope you guys enjoy them 🙂

All smiles when I'm surrounded by this beauty!

That concludes today’s post, I hope you guys enjoy it! Now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to jump in bed with my tablet and watch my new favorite Japanese drama, Orange Days.

Have a lovely Sunday evening and see you soon!

AMAs 2013 Review!

Hello everyone,

This post is long overdue, it was difficult to find time to sit down and write this review last week because I was swamped with work. However, here I am with the AMAs 2013 review post, I will be highlighting the main moments of the night.

This year the American Music Awards was quite entertaining, I didn’t find my myself snoozing while watching the show. The American Music Awards were held in L.A.’ s Nokia Theater on November 24, 2013, hosted by Pitbull.

The show featured great performances and some unique ones as well from Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga ft, R. Kelly, Christina Aguilera, Macklemore and many more. Here is the scoop about some of the performances that took place and the winners of the night.

Katy Perry opened the show with her Japanese themed performance of “Unconditionally”, it was very unique and a great start to the show.

Miley Cyrus never fails to get people talking and I think she managed to do this once again. She performed he single “Wrecking Ball” and strangely there was a huge hologram of a cat lip-syncing along with Miley. At least, this performance was more mellow than her VMAs performance.

Mr. Timberlake brought class to the stage and introduced his performance by saying “This song is about alcohol.” He sang “”Drink You Away” and he sounded flawless live.  JT also received the award for “Best Soul/R&B Album”, his album is pretty amazing.

Jlo brought Latin fever to the stage, she performed a tribute to Celia Cruz. This Latina proved that she has the moved and she changed into show stopping attire throughout the performance. She got a standing ovation from the audience, I even clapped at the end of her performance.

TLC reunited again after many years, performing of their hit single from the 90s “Waterfalls”. I felt that they should’ve had a bigger tribute, but this was great too. Rapper Lil Mama joined them, who filled the void left by late Lisa “Left eye” Lopez.

Lady Gaga and R. Kelly got creative with their performance with an opening skit and a theatrical performance. They performed “Do What U Want” and Lady Gaga yet again showed cased her acting skills. For me, this was my favorite performance of the night.

Rihanna had a big night accepting her first Icon Award, along with her mother who stated that she is very proud of Rihanna. Rihanna delivered an amazing performance of her song “Diamonds”, her vocals were powerful and emotional.

Speaking of an emotional performance, Christina Aguilera performed the emotional ballad “Say Something” featuring A Great Big World.

Other performances of the night were by Macklemore, Imagine Dragons, Arianna Grande, Florida Georgia Line ft. Nelly, Pitbull and Kesha, Kendric Lamar and Many more.

Macklemore performed live from Miami!

To name a few, some of the top winners of the night were Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for “Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop album”, Arianna Grande for “Best New Artist”, Imagine Dragons for “Alternative Rock Artist” and One Direction for “Favorite Pop/Rock Group and Favorite Pop/Rock Album”. Taylor Swift also won two awards for “Artist Of The Year and Favorite Country Album”.

Overall I will give this year’s AMAs an 8/10. Well done.

What was your favorite moment of the show and your favorite performance? Mine was by Lady Gaga and R. Kelly and I will end this post with a video of their performance.

See you tomorrow with a Friday Funday post!

Music Monday! Week 4.

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another Music Monday and today I wanted to share with you a James Brown classic, “I Feel Good”. I was trying to find an actual music video for this song, but I only came across live performances. I Got You (I Feel Good) is a blues song that was released in 1975 and was Brown’s highest-charting song, peaking at number 3.

I hope everyone enjoys this song.

See you soon.
